Earth Day?

So today is so-called Earth Day.

My disdain for these quasi holidays is because they become so gimmick-y. I mean - shouldn't we be mindful of our planet and surroundings everyday anyways?

And don't get me started on Valentine's Day...

But I digress... today is also a "No Car Day" in L.A.

I'll participate - I'll take the bus to wherever I end up going as I figure out what I'm doing... I'll see how the streets will look...

But if it takes some event to get a few extra people to learn about energy saving techniques and create some awareness about the environment - fine, I'll take it... but seriously - do we really need this "holiday"?
